Memorial Day isn't about grilling, beers, or patio parties.
It's about something far more important: remembering this country's fallen heroes. These brave men and women are awarded the Purple Heart, a medal bestowed on the most heroic of individuals, those injured or killed in the line of duty.
My humble attempt to honor these noble men and women comes in cocktail form: The Purple Heart, an aquavit/purple cabbage/Thai basil/lemon libation.
Raise a glass to those who gave their lives for these United States. Grab the recipe as well as two other Memorial Day drinks, by yours truly, from my latest cocktail segment on KATU's Afternoon Live!

Check out my three latest libations on KATU's Afternoon Live by clicking here! Then, go treat yourself to a Springapore Sling, a Spring Forward Fall Back, or even a Spring Chicken, which features (you guessed it) egg whites, vegan chicken salt, and Tofurky Chik'n.
